The Village Animal Clinic understands that medical emergencies for a beloved pet can, and often do, happen outside of regular business hours. This is why we ensure our clients have access to 24/7 emergency care.*
For our established clients during our regular business hours, The Village Animal Clinic’s medical staff and resources are available to help you with any emergency your pet experiences. This includes our internal medicine expertise, diagnostic technology, and surgical suite. Please call in advance so we can prepare for your arrival if possible.
*Please note that we are NOT an emergency hospital but are happy to provide our clients with resources to nearby emergency hospitals.

When to Seek Emergency Care for Your Pet
The most straightforward answer to whether you should seek emergency care for your pet is when you feel their medical condition is severe and cannot wait. However, the following general situations should help you determine if you need to seek emergency care for your pet:
Exhibits Symptoms of Heat Stroke (open-mouthed panting, collapse, poor gum color)
High or Low Temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
Inability to Urinate or Defecate Despite Straining to Do So
Difficulty Breathing
Acute Abdominal Swelling
Electric Shock
Seizures
Bleeding and/or Pale Gums
Excessive Vomiting or Diarrhea
Sudden Onset of Weakness
Veterinary Care Referrals
If a particular case requires unusual or special care, we may refer you to a veterinary specialist. Cases most often referred to specialists are complicated orthopedic or neurological conditions, advanced cardiac diagnostics, and complicated dermatology and ophthalmology cases.
